About me

I am a Senior Dog Groomer, Mentor/Assessor & Admin Assistant at KD Grooming Studio, Somerset. I am trained to a high standard & also teach & assess students on the City and Guilds approved Dog Grooming courses (Level 2 & Level 3) as well as teaching the associated theory lessons.

My love for dogs started at a young age with my parents always owning dogs and cats. I currently own 3 dogs – Fudge, a Border Collie, now a retired Agility dog who will be 14 in June 2018 – He is the first dog I have ever owned myself having been a present for me when I was just 10 years old from my parents. He enjoys his retirement with my parents by being outside in their garden for the majority of his days. He has taught me everything I need to know about handling and working with dogs & I have everything to thank him for! I also have Mollie a Border Collie who is my current agility star & would chase a ball all day every day if she could. Finally, I have a miniature Poodle Bonnie who is 9 months old and a hopeful Agility and Grooming competition star!

I have been grooming since September 2014 where I undertook my City & Guilds Level 3 Certificates in Introductory Dog Grooming at KD Grooming Studio. At the end of the 30-day course I was lucky enough to be offered a job & I have been there since! In December 2014 I was Invigilator Trained by PIF in order to sit in and invigilate student’s exams. This is where my enjoyment of completing student portfolios began!

In February 2015 I completed my first Pet First Aid course. And from May 2015 - September 2015 I completed my City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma for Professional Dog Stylists (within 1 year of completing my introductory qualification!).

From January - March 2016 I completed a City & Guilds Level 3 Award in Education and Training so I could teach students at KD Grooming Studio with a teaching qualification behind me which has enabled me to adapt my teaching skills to different students with different learning requirements. In October 2016 I competed in a YKC grooming qualifier competition at the London Excel to compete at YKC Crufts 2017 for Groomer of the Year and also had a top up refresher for invigilator training.

In February 2017 I completed my second Pet First Aid course aimed at dog groomers and the hazards & risks that come within the industry and day to day work. The following day I then completed my first Emergency First Aid at Work (Human First Aid) course. I am now qualified for Pet & Human first aid.
March 2017 came around and it was the Crufts finals! First came the YKC Groomer of the Year Final where I came 2nd in the Senior category with a hand strip Border Terrier! The following day I competed in the YKC Senior Jumping Final with my Border Collie Mollie – We won our overall height category and came 3rd overall! A great start to my competing year! I have applied and qualified for the next Jumping Final at Crufts 2018. In September 2017 I took part in a trade stand demonstration at the PATs Telford Show grooming a Bichon in a pet trim. This was my first time demonstrating a groom with the members of the public watching and asking questions – What great fun!

As of 2018 I am now starting my Higher Diploma in Dog Grooming - I enjoy developing my skills & always feel there is more to learn within this industry! I like to push myself to learn new skills and the achievements/qualifications that come with them. I do this by attending educational events, seminars & workshops to keep up date with the ever-changing industry of the grooming world as well as competing in dog grooming competitions & furthering my own education! I feel I can then pass on my experiences, knowledge and my love for grooming when teaching our students at KD how to pamper their clients pooches!

I love to groom all breeds & sizes of dogs and always strive to ensure that they enjoy the grooming process as much as I do! I endeavour to meet all clients requirements - So whether its hand-stripping, clipping, full scissoring, breed standards, pet trims or a bit of everything - My aim is always 100% client satisfaction, for both the dog and their owner!
