About me

My name is Shona, and I am a qualified dog groomer trained at Canine Groom School in Clitheroe. I hold level 2 & 3 city and guilds Dog grooming qualifications, as well as track one and two (CPG, CAPG) of the ICMG qualification. I am currently working towards completing the ICMG qualification to become a qualified master groomer.

In March 2023, I opened Barks Dog Grooming and Spa, where I aim to provide a calm and welcoming experience for your furry friends. We cater to dogs of all sizes, from small to large, and everything in between. Our upgraded bathing experience, the Ozon Hydrobath, offers a deeper clean while providing a relaxing, deep-tissue massage for your dog, as well as many Spa treatments in addition to our standard grooming facilities.

I have a special fondness for grooming Yorkies and Poodles, as I love seeing the incredible transformations that can be achieved with these breeds. I am passionate about grooming and education and regularly attend seminars to improve my skills. Additionally, I have completed a Pet First Aid course and am fully insured for your peace of mind.

I am so glad that I discovered Shona at The Barks, via this site. Ginny, my 2 year old cockapoo is an extremely anxious and nervous dog and Shona went above and beyond to ensure that Ginny was in a much more calm and relaxed state before I left. I left a shaggy, nervous dog and returned to a very neat and tidy waggy tailed pooch! Ginny looked and smelled absolutely fabulous but most importantly she was a very happy, chilled, waggy tailed pooch! Shona ensured that no other dogs were present during her appointment and her very beautiful pet parlour was full of toys, a dog bed and everything for any dog to feel at home. I have already booked Ginny’s follow up appointments and sure that Ginny will get to enjoy her pamper days with Shona and it is a huge relief to me to have found her.
