About me
Hi, my name is Beth and I am an award winning groomer with 6 years experience in the grooming industry. I've been grooming from the age of 19 and I've been offering grooming services from my home based salon Takoda Dog Grooming since 2015. I trained under Kelly Gayler at KJG Dog Grooming Academy in Chudleigh, Devon (one of UK's Pooch Pefect TV show contestants) and achieved the Open College Network Level 3 Diploma in Dog Grooming qualification in August 2019. I completed my City and Guilds Level 2 qualification at Canine Design Academy in Shepton Mallet in February 2020 and started my City and Guilds Level 3 qualification there later on in September 2020, already gaining a distinction in my breed standard and wool mix practical exams! Due to moving locations I am yet to continue the rest of my exams for this course.
I regularly attend seminars and webinars across the South West of the UK to further my knowledge in the grooming industry. I am canine first aid trained (I attend an annual course) and am insured under Simply Business. In my free time, I compete at championship shows with my sidekick, 7 year old bernese mountain dog, Fizz, under my Kennel Club registered affix, Takodabern. I hope one day to breed and show this breed under my affix and contribute to producing the breed as close to the kennel club breed standard as possible as well as helping to improve the health and temperament of the breed. I am a member of PIF (Pet Industry Federation), BDGA (British Dog Groomer's Association), iPet network, BIGA (British Isles Grooming Association), Groomer's Spotlight and Bernese Mountain Dog Club of Great Britain.
I am very passionate about furthering my education and knowledge of my skills to help give you and your pooch the best experience at my salon. I enjoy competing and have won numerous awards for my skills. Please see a list of my achievements below.
