Spotlight of the Week: Twizted Tailz Dog Grooming

This week’s Spotlight of the Week was a little different because we handed the decision over to you.

For the first time, we ran a public vote across Instagram and Facebook, giving our followers the chance to choose their favourite grooming business featured this week. After lots of votes, Twizted Tailz Dog Grooming came out on top!

Owned by Shelly Power, Twizted Tailz Dog Grooming has an inspiring story that proves it is never too late to follow a new path and build a business doing something you love.

After spending more than 20 years working behind a desk, Shelly made the decision to completely retrain as a dog groomer. She secured an apprenticeship at a popular local salon, where she gained valuable hands on experience before launching her own home salon.

Now, nearly three years later, Shelly is successfully running Twizted Tailz Dog Grooming and loving every minute of it.

"After over 20 years working behind a desk I decided to completely retrain as a Dog Groomer. I was lucky enough to get an apprenticeship at a popular local salon which gave me enough experience to start my own home salon. I've been working for myself for nearly 3 years now and I absolutely love what I do!"

Shelly’s journey is a brilliant reminder that career changes can lead to something incredibly rewarding.

When asked for her best grooming advice, Shelly shared a tip that every groomer can appreciate:

"Spend the most time on your bath and prep work. A clean coat dries faster and is much easier to turn into a beautiful groom."

Great grooming starts with strong preparation, and Shelly’s stunning before and after transformations show exactly why this step matters so much.
